Over the years Michael Jackson has shielded his kids from the media. Not just the media put any prying eye's. Rightfully so. MJ like any father was trying to protect them from what he endured over 45 years of fame.
No father or parent want kids to go through bad things they experienced growing up. We can all relate to that. We base the way we bring our kids up by our experiences. Constantly trying to keep sons and daughters out of trouble we know about. Passing on what we know really.
Michael Jackson was using what his life experiences where to bring up his kids. The strangeness of his youth is what he knew and that's it. Doesn't matter what others think. It's what he knew and nothing can change that.

Michael Jackson’s Mother Kathryn Granted Custody Of Children

CNN is reporting that Katherine Jackson has filed for custody of her sons 3 children and has custody at this point.
Jackson has three children with different mothers.
Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., known as Prince Michael, 12; Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, 11; and Prince Michael II, 7.
News organizations speculate who will get custody in the end. A hearing is set for August 4, 2009.
California law tends to grant parental custody to mothers in situations like death. Seeing the children are from separate mothers custody could go to the grand parents.
"They have a long established relationship with paternal grandmother and are comfortable in her care." is the reason given for Katherine Jackson guardianship for now.
