In 1985, Michael Jackson bought the rights to the Beatles record catalog with the rights to other artists' songs for $47.5 million. In 1995, he sold half the rights to Sony for $90 million. How much is the Beatles record catalog and associated rights worth today?
Since Michael Jackson's Death his recording sales themselves have gone through the roof. Some estimates are in the millions for songs sold after his death.
If Michael Jackson's estate earns revenue from The Beatles Rock Band Pre Release the family could all be get rich. Let's face it MJ probably gave family members very little cash. We can assume this from news reports and the way he designed his will. He didnt distribute any of the estate to anyone but his mother and the clause assoitiated with the mother shows he didn't even trust them or like them.
The family could have a windfall when the estate is settled. It has been reported that Michael Jacksons Mother has been dishing out allowances to the family members with meger incomes for years. The Jackson Five still makes money too. They also saw a gain in sales after Jackson's death.
High assett music libraries, like The Beatles, is worth the value of projected future value generated by the asset. If the Beatles catalog generates $70 million a year in profits and is expected to do so for the foreseeable future, then value the asset at the present value of $70 million per year for the next twenty years could be a reality.

Reviews
I ordered my Beatles Rock Band kit for my Wii a month before it came out last year, and have thoroughly enjoyed it ever since. I previously had the original Rock Band, and upgraded to this baby. Looking at the different controllers from my point of view. First the drums, 2.4Ghz wireless styled after Ringo's set. Add the 3 cymbals, and you have an 8-piece kit unlike any other. Second, the microphone is the same as the original kit. Nothing new here. Third, Sir James Paul McCartney's Hofner Bass Guitar controller. This baby in my mind kicks the other guitar controllers off the planet. Five main buttons, five solo buttons, hot looks and sound. What else could you ask for? Playing this baby I find easier than the Strat and Les Paul guitar controllers. Reason being, I can reach with my fingers and gain extra control of this guitar. If you want to upgrade from Rock Band, do it this way. This is the Ticket to Ride the Yellow Submarine Wii style. If you want the best, forget the rest, and Rock With The Beatles.
I questioned whether or not to spend so much money on a game. Ha! The Beatles Rock Band was a bargain given the amount of pleasure it has provided my family. I only wish I'd bought it earlier! My kids and their friends really enjoy themselves playing the music and it is fun for parents, too. Even when I'm not playing the game, I love hearing the music! The best thing of all is that my teenage daughter, who previously did not seem very interested in much of anything, now wants drum lessons. Thanks, Rock Band and Ringo!
Great game. It plays exactly the way I expected. If you enjoy the Beatles, you will love this game. Great for all ages. My 3-year old loves playing the drums.
My only complaint was that I couldn't find wireless microphones until yesterday I saw on Amazon the Logitech..wireless microphones for $79....each!!! I think that is a lot to pay since I needed two because one comes with it (with a wire and stand). But of course I ordered the Logitech wireless because we want to sing in harmony. I didn't understand if the ones that were $19.99 how you would connect them to the Wii. I guess you would need some sort of adaptor but it didn't tell you that on the Amazon website. Another question I have is can we add another guitar and will guitar hero or rock band guitars work and do they need a special adapter. OR are there wireless guitars that work. Now for my praise: We have been having so much fun. Young and old alike. Friends looked at me weird when I said come over and sing the Beatles with us....they frowned and said really....and guess what....they arrived at our house at 8 p.m. and we had to ask them to leave by 1:30 a.m. Our age range is 50-60. WE LOVE IT!!!!
This was a Christmas present for the whole family and since then it's Beatlemania at our house. Easy to set up, easy to play and great fun for all ages. Only complaint is that the singer has to be very close to the mic to register correctly. Our 11 year old daughter sometimes spits on it. Yuch.
